There are about 189 lakes in Bangalore. 55 lakes are under BBMP, 123 under BDA, 6 under LDA, and 5 under Karnataka Forest Department. In Karnataka, there are numerous lakes and no rivers close by. Most of the lakes were constructed in the 16th century. Many lakes are filled with weeds and several are freshwater lakes and water tanks. As a Bangalorean, we must save and protect our heritage the Bangalore lakes at any cost. We should maintain the greenery and cleanliness of the lakes in Bangalore.
