Known as the guardians of Rachenahalli Lake, a citizen-led group of people named Jalamitra started to protect the lake with BBMP- Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike. Later, the Former Additional Director (Dr Shobha Ananda Reddy), MGIRED- Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Rural Energy & Development took up the responsibility to revive the lake. Later the lake was managed by BDA- Bangalore Development Authority, BBMP and Krishna Byre Gowda who is a politician.
