Is Agara Lake Man-Made? Who Made Agara Lake? 



There are many lakes present in Bangalore. Most of them are man-made lakes in Bangalore, while the others are natural. Among all the lakes that are present, Agara Lake is quite famous and preferred by the locals. Have you ever come across questions like if Agara Lake is a natural lake or is it man-made? Is Agara Lake Natural or Man-Made?

Agara Lake is one of the natural Lakes in Bangalore whose beauty is something to talk about. It spans an area of 98 acres and has a long history that dates back to the eighth century. The existence of this lake has been attested to in the historical records of Bangalore. 


Earlier, the lake was primarily used for the supply of drinking water and for irrigation purposes as well. The Agara Lake location is adjacent to Koramangala and HSR Layout on the outer ring road. People used to visit this lake to observe the migrating birds as they got attracted here because of its natural beauty. 


What is the Timing and Entry Fee of Agara Lake?

The Agara Lake timings have two different shifts scheduled by the authorities. To visit the lake you can either come here in the morning or in the evening. In the morning, the gates open from 5:30 am to 11:00 am. 


Whereas, in the evening the gates open from 4:00 pm to 6:30 pm. In addition to this, the lake remains open every day except for national holidays. On the other hand, the Agara Lake entry fee is absolutely free. Both adults and kids have to pay nothing to visit here and spend a splendid time.

What are the Activities to Do in Agara Lake?

The lake has regained its former magnificence which draws the attention of a lot of people. Having a walking and jogging path present, people stroll here in the morning and evening. There is even a track circle present at this lake which makes it enjoyable for joggers. 


Among the border of the lake, there is a renowned Children Globe rooster statue which draws not only kids but adults as well. The authorities of lakes in Bangalore have planted a number of fruit trees like peepal, mango, jamun and more. Besides that, many different species of aquatic animals and birds can be spotted here. Individuals also visit the lake to witness the mesmerizing sunset views.
