History of Mandi Biriyani 

Mandi Biriyani first originated in Yemen and is a staple food in the Middle East. Although Yemeni Arabs have lived in Hyderabad for almost a century, the general public was unaware of their cuisine until a decade ago. Therefore, Mandi was first commercially presented to Hyderabadians in 2011 when Abdullah Masood Bashadi launched a restaurant in the Errakunta neighbourhood with the name Mataam Al-Arabi. 


People travelled from all across the city to sample the Mandi, which quickly gained popularity. Within a few years, several Arabian restaurants started offering Mandi biriyani. It is specially cooked in large quantities during large gatherings, special occasions, festivities and others.
