Things to Be Careful About When You Plan to Visit Agara Lake

  1. Don’t Visit Without Noting the Parking Spot near Agara Lake

There is a designated parking area in Agara Lake HSR Layout. Search for the precise address of the Agara Lake Parking Lot. You can leave your car on the service road just next to Agara Lake. Talk to the authorities if you get lost and they’ll point you in the right direction to find the parking area.  


Did you know that there has been a continuous threat near the Agara Lake area- what is the threat? A few years back, some criminal activities or you can say some crime incidents were taking place near Agara Lake, especially in the late evenings or at night. Now with the involvement of the local police and by the authorities of Agara Lake, that's not happening much.


However, it's better if you don't stay near the lake in the late evening hours or in the night. Because, if not the thieves or burglars, but still, there can still be mosquitoes or snakes coming out from the lake. You know they say- "Prevention is far far better than cure!"

  

  1. Agara Lake Is Not a Safe Place to Go Boating and Swimming

Agara Lake doesn't have any boating facilities in it. You can enjoy the natural view, cycling, walking, meditation etc. here. If you are a good swimmer, then only approach the waters. Keep away from swimming and other sports during the evening and night hours.


  1. Are Bicycles Allowed in Agara Lake?

Although there are no restrictions on using the bicycle route within Agara Lake, the park administration is very strict on keeping the area accident-free. This is because there have been incidents of pedestrians getting hurt. The authorities now demand more accountability from the cyclists while using the lake’s cycling track. Cycle very carefully along the track or you may be penalised.  


  1. Dogs Aren’t Allowed in and around Agara Lake

Pets are not allowed within the premises of Agara Lake. You will find a no-pets-allowed signboard at the entrance. So, don’t take your pets for a stroll there.  


  1. Are Snakes Seen in Agara Lake?

As Agara Lake is among the oldest lakes in Bengaluru, you may find some species of snakes within the lake area. So, be careful while visiting the place, especially during this monsoon season.

 

  1. Is the Place a Safe Haven for Mosquitoes?

The place was once infested by mosquitoes quite a lot because the area was once very polluted and was the dumping ground for garbage and contaminated water. In recent years, that scenario has changed completely. However, because of the monsoon season and the presence of the large waterbody, it is possible that some of them are still thriving there. So, take the necessary precautions to avoid vector-borne diseases.   


  1. Don’t Plan to Visit Agara Lake at Night

Can you go to the place at night? It isn’t a great idea to go to the Agara Lake HSR Layout Bangalore at night especially if you are alone and without any company. Night-time visits to the lake are strictly not recommended as there have been incidents of theft and other criminal activities in the Ayyappa Swamy temple area on Outer Ring Road near the lake. (Source). If you do venture into the area all alone, after dark, you are strongly advised to take additional precautions to avoid any unpleasant incidents.


  1. Follow The Rules and Regulations Strictly 

Agara Lake has its own set of rules and regulations for things like swimming, fishing, etc. All fishing boats are required to dock by 6 o’clock in the evening. The boats should maintain a distance of 200 feet from one another. They should have a permit for night fishing.
